Modular Shoring Boxes are for excavations that don’t suit a standard fixed-length shield. Also known as a modular aluminium panel system (MAPS), the lightweight panels combine on site into two, three or four-sided configurations, so you get certified wall support even when the excavation is an awkward size or shape, or there are existing services in the way. It is the aluminium shoring box for small tanks, chambers, pits and manhole shafts up to 3m deep.
The panels are configured on-site to match the excavation, not the other way around. Set them up for full four-sided support, or two and three-sided where only some walls need shoring. Adjustable spreader bars give a precise fit, and the system suits small through to large excavators.

Unlike a fixed trench box, the panels come in lengths from 910 to 3000mm and can be set up on two, three or four sides, so the system fits pits, shafts and chambers that a standard shield won’t.
ShoreWorX Modular Shoring Boxes support excavations from 0.5m to 3.0m deep in a four-sided set-up, with a clear working width of 1.03m to 3.12m. Two and three-sided set-ups also go to 3.0m. For deeper excavations, our team will recommend a heavier system from the X-90 or X-150 range.
Yes. Because the panels are put together on site, the box can be set up on two or three sides, or sized to sit between services, where a fixed trench box would clash. Engineering support for the specific set-up is available when required.
